VIDEO: Dr. Barbara Rockett on Question 2

Posted by Committee Against Physician Assisted Suicide on September 18.

We would like to introduce you to Dr. Barbara Rockett, a past president of the Massachusetts Medical Society and physician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. In the interview below, Dr. Rockett discusses how doctors are not “clairvoyant” when it comes to making prognosis and the mistakes that doctors can make while predicting how much time you have to live.

Question 2 allows patients with a terminal illness and 6 months or less to live to receive a lethal medication. But, as Dr. Rockett argues, most doctors agree that a six-month prognosis is nothing more than an educated guess. We all know someone who has outlived their prognosis by months or years. This is a critical flaw in Question 2 and one reason why Massachusetts voters should vote NO on Election Day.

See below for the video of Dr. Rockett.
